My Volunteer trip to an orphanage in Belize!
Volunteering at an orphanage has been a lifelong dream of mine, and I am so grateful that I have been given this opportunity. In just a few short months, I will be traveling to Belize to volunteer for one week at a Children's Home.
I chose Belize because this country will always hold a special place in my heart. While visiting Belize twenty years ago for my honeymoon, I met a little boy who was probably around three years old, who made a huge impact on my life. He was living in a tiny village in the jungle. He had no shirt or shoes on, but had a smile that could light up the night sky. He did not speak English, but that did not stop us from making a connection. When it was time to say goodbye, he did not want to let me go, and neither did I. I have never forgotten about him, and often wonder how his life turned out. I can still see his precious face so vividly. I am truly honored to be able to give back to a country that has given me so many beautiful memories. I will be spending one week at a Children's Home.
The home is a sanctuary for more than forty abused, abandoned, and neglected children, some whom have special needs or suffer from HIV or AIDS. It offers a safe and loving environment that goes beyond basic food and shelter. It provides a supportive, nurturing, safe and stable place for these children to regain their self-esteem and develop trust in adults, so that they can lead fulfilling, and happy lives.
I am asking for your support so that the orphanage can continue to help enrich the lives of these innocent children. Your donation will help pay for school, medical, repairs to the facility, and for necessities such as food, electricity and clothing. Any donation, large or small is greatly appreciated.
All donations are tax deductible and go directly to the organization.
