Abigail's Volunteer Trip to Honduras

My name is Abigail Courter and I would like to tell you about the exciting opportunity I have been given.

I was accepted as an international volunteer participant through A Broader View Volunteers Corp., a USA based non-profit 501 c(3) organization devoted to providing culturally immersive humanitarian aid programs which have a direct, progressive impact on the hosting community.

In May, I will be traveling to Honduras to volunteer as a nurse aid for three weeks, working four to eight hours a day, five days a week. Examples of tasks I will be given are cleaning wounds, charting patients, taking vitals, and assisting in the maternity ward.

I became interested in this project because I am a pre-nursing major at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and am planning to serve abroad following graduation. A Broader View Volunteers Corp. has arranged for my placement and will provide me with local support, meals, and project placement. The total cost of my trip will be approximately $2,398 including housing, meals, airfare, and required supplies.

I hope that you will be able to lend financial assistance to this project. If you are able to cover the cost of just one day of my trip, which is only $109, I would be tremendously grateful.
